Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Skeleton Draft collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information when you use our website, app, writing tools, structure tools, AI-assisted features, subscriptions, exports, and related services.

Skeleton Draft is operated by Vive Content LLC, referred to in this Privacy Policy as "Skeleton Draft," "we," "us," or "our."

By using Skeleton Draft, you agree to this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use Skeleton Draft.

1. Our core promise

Your work is yours.

We will never use your writing to train AI models.

Your projects, drafts, notes, outlines, characters, scenes, story ideas, exports, and other creative material are not used by Skeleton Draft to train AI models.

We do not sell your writing.

2. Information we collect

Skeleton Draft may collect and store information you provide directly, information created through your use of the app, and limited technical information needed to operate the service.

This may include:

  • Account email address
  • Display name
  • Profile photo, if provided
  • Authentication information
  • Project data
  • Drafts, notes, outlines, scenes, beats, chapters, acts, cards, snapshots, exports, and related writing material
  • App settings and preferences
  • AI settings
  • Subscription status and plan information
  • Billing-related identifiers from our payment provider
  • Support messages and feedback you send us
  • Basic technical information, such as browser, device, approximate location, IP address, usage logs, error logs, and diagnostic data

We collect only what we reasonably need to provide, maintain, secure, support, and improve Skeleton Draft.

3. Your writing and creative content

Your writing remains yours.

We store your writing and project data so the app can function: to save your work, sync projects, preserve drafts, show your content in your account, support exports, maintain snapshots, and provide the features you choose to use.

We do not claim ownership of your writing.

We do not sell your writing.

We do not publish your writing.

We do not use your writing to train AI models.

We do not treat your private project content as public feedback unless you intentionally submit it to us for that purpose.

4. AI-assisted features

Skeleton Draft may include optional AI-assisted tools, currently Distill, Refine, Seed, Render, and Format.

AI features are optional. They do not run unless you choose a tool on a specific piece of text.

When you choose to use AI-assisted features, the selected text and minimal related context needed for that request may be processed by a third-party AI provider in order to generate a response.

Skeleton Draft currently uses Anthropic Claude through a commercial API configuration to power optional AI-assisted features.

The exact content sent to an AI provider may depend on the feature used, the context selected, your settings, and the technical requirements of the request.

5. AI training

Skeleton Draft does not use your writing to train AI models.

We use commercial/API configurations from third-party AI providers that are designed not to use user-submitted content for model training by default. Based on its published commercial/API data practices, Anthropic states that it does not use business/API inputs and outputs to train its models by default.

Third-party AI providers may retain API inputs, outputs, and related technical data for limited periods for purposes such as abuse monitoring, safety, debugging, security, service operation, or legal compliance, depending on their current policies and the way the feature is used.

Those retention and processing practices are controlled by the third-party provider, not solely by Skeleton Draft.

Do not use AI-assisted features with content you are not comfortable processing through those systems.

6. How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage accounts
  • Save, sync, organize, and display projects
  • Preserve drafts, snapshots, notes, and settings
  • Provide structure tools, writing tools, exports, and AI-assisted features
  • Process subscriptions and billing status

  • Improve reliability, security, performance, and usability
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, misuse, unauthorized access, and security incidents
  • Communicate service updates, policy updates, account notices, billing notices, and support responses
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not use your writing to train AI models.

7. Payment information

Payments are processed by a third-party billing provider, such as Stripe.

We do not directly store your full payment card details.

We may receive and store limited billing-related information, such as your subscription status, plan type, customer ID, payment status, renewal date, cancellation status, and billing history as needed to manage access to paid features.

Your payment information is handled by the billing provider according to its own terms and privacy practices.

8. Service providers

Skeleton Draft uses third-party service providers to operate the app.

These may include providers for:

  • Hosting
  • Databases
  • Authentication
  • Payment processing
  • AI processing
  • Analytics
  • Email
  • Error logging
  • Customer support
  • Security
  • Deployment
  • Storage and backups

These providers may process information only as needed to provide their services to Skeleton Draft, subject to their own terms, policies, and technical systems.

We do not sell your writing to service providers.

We do not authorize service providers to use your writing to train AI models.

9. Analytics, logs, and diagnostics

Skeleton Draft may collect limited analytics, logs, and diagnostic information to understand how the service is used, improve reliability, fix bugs, monitor performance, and protect the app from abuse.

This may include information such as device type, browser type, operating system, pages or features used, timestamps, error messages, approximate location, IP address, and other technical data.

Where practical, we use this information in a way that minimizes unnecessary exposure of your creative content.

10. Cookies and local storage

Skeleton Draft may use cookies, local storage, session storage, or similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, manage sessions, support security, improve performance, and operate app features.

You can control cookies and local storage through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect the functionality of Skeleton Draft.

Deleting browser-local data may remove locally stored settings or cached information, but it may not delete data stored in your Skeleton Draft account or on our servers.

11. When we share information

We may share information only in limited circumstances:

  • With service providers needed to operate Skeleton Draft
  • With payment processors to manage subscriptions and billing
  • With AI providers when you choose to use AI-assisted features
  • When required by law, subpoena, court order, legal process, or government request
  • To protect the rights, safety, security, or property of Skeleton Draft, users, service providers, or others
  • To investigate fraud, abuse, security incidents, or violations of our Terms
  • In connection with a business transfer, such as a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets

We do not sell your writing.

We do not use your writing to train AI models.

12. Business transfers

If Skeleton Draft or Vive Content LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, bankruptcy, sale of assets, or similar transaction, user information may be transferred as part of that transaction.

If that happens, we will try to ensure that your writing remains protected according to the promises in this Privacy Policy, including that your writing is not used to train AI models.

13. Data retention

We keep information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Skeleton Draft, maintain your account, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, maintain security, and operate the service.

Your project data may remain stored while your account is active.

Backups, logs, billing records, support records, and security records may be retained for a reasonable period after deletion, cancellation, or account closure.

AI providers may retain API inputs, outputs, and related technical data for limited periods according to their own policies and service configurations.

14. Data deletion

You may contact us to request account deletion or privacy-related assistance.

Deleting your account may delete or make inaccessible your projects, drafts, notes, exports, settings, AI credits, subscription access, and related account information.

Before deleting your account, export any work you want to keep.

Some information may remain in backups, logs, billing records, legal records, security records, or service provider systems for a limited period where retention is necessary, lawful, or technically required.

15. Your choices

Depending on your location and the features available, you may be able to:

  • Access your account information
  • Export your work
  • Update your profile or settings
  • Turn AI features on or off
  • Choose when to use AI-assisted features

You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for using a secure device, browser, and internet connection.
